SCIENCE is a formal search for knowledge.

Scientists explore, observe, and consider every aspect of the Universe, from the smallest subatomic particles to the largest galactic clusters, from the simplest object, such as a star, to the most complex, such as a human brain.

Scientists examine almost every corner of the universe, including universal forces, mechanics, electronics, chemistry, all living creatures from microbes to whales, the human body, human behavior, as well as the darkest caves, the deepest oceans, the highest mountains, the coldest and warmest climates, other planets, stars and galaxies.

Scientists employ a variety of advanced technologies that stretch their ability to observe events far beyond normal human experience. Using a satellite telescope, an electron microscope, brain-scanning devices, particle accelerators, and other scientific instruments, modern research techniques and mathematical tools make it possible for researchers to:

    explore things never before seen,
search for remnants of past life,
    see deep inside our brains,
discover everything possible about the Earth, Moon, and Sun,
examine the behavior of various plants and animals, including humans,
    observe microscopic life forms,
    examine the tiniest known particles,
observe distant planets, stars, galaxies, and other astronomical bodies,
    search for life beyond Earth,
and to reflect on subjects of space, time, and the Cosmos.
